End Game For Moyes?

End Game For Moyes?

It was the away team that delivered some home truths on Saturday. In a four minute spell they buried our FA Cup hopes. It wasn’t a mugging, rather a machine gunning. And it left everyone angry. Suddenly nothing is certain anymore. Our star player was booed off the field. Our manager seemed half hearted rather than heartbroken after we were dumped out of the cup. Since the final whistle blew, things have become even more chaotic. Our loss lit the Royal Blue touch paper. Phil Neville yesterday belched out a truly rancid sound bite about a top 10 finish being amazing for a club like Everton. Suddenly problems are...

Similar to what Drenthe hears during a Moyes team talk...

When news trickled through yesterday via various outlets including The Guardian that Royston Drenthe has been told to stay away from Everton by David Moyes, none of us can have been too surprised. Rumour and hearsay have followed Drenthe around Merseyside like ravenous paparazzi, but finally some of the facts are leaking out...

60 Evertonians:#24.George Orr

Bio: I was born in Walton Hospital within earshot of the Goodison Roar and was brought up in Bootle. My father had no interest in football whatsoever but my brother was a Kopite, he used to go to the reserve games at Anfield in the late 1950s but because I was younger I wasn’t allowed to go  and he didn’t want me there anyway . It was in school where I heard about Everton from my mates, they told me all about a guy called Dave Hickson, he was their hero. Listening to them was like having a Superman Comic read out to you, my mind pictured Dave Hickson as a Super Hero…...

Top 60 Everton Players:#3.Neville Southall MBE

May 20, 2010

Neville Southall MBE (1981-98)  578 appearances  “It was my first signing, and my best, in his prime, Neville was the best keeper in the world.” – Howard Kendall The bulky Nev of later years (although as a former hod-carrier, he was always a big man) repelled wave after wave from Manchester United in the 1995 FA Cup Final and the earlier, supremely elastic ‘keeper of the mid 1980s was the world’s best. Such was Everton’s domestic supremacy in 1985 that they gobbled up 60 per cent of all votes for the writers’ footballer of the year, with a deserving Nev eventually winning the award. Southall is the best Everton...

Everton v Birmingham; who will blink first?

Everton v Birmingham; who will blink first?

This fourth-round FA Cup clash sees an irresistable force meet an immovable object and something has to give! Everton are undefeated in six games – nine if you exclude the Bate Borisov defeat where we fielded a weakened team, while our visitors are undefeated in fourteen. A lot has happened since our one-all draw against Birmingham at Goodison five weeks ago when Bilyaletdinov‘s sixth minute strike, countered by Larsson’s out of the blue equalizer, was all we had to show from a game we dominated from start to finish. Our form has been on an upward trajectory ever since, with a point at Sunderland and then at the Emirates...

TOP 60 EVERTON PLAYERS: #38. BRIAN HARRIS

38. Brian Harris (1955-67) 358 appearances, 29 goals In 13 years of Everton service, Harris was employed in every outfield position but will best be remembered for the fantastic 1966 FA Cup Final victory, a game in which Harris starred and also playfully wore the fallen hat of a policeman during a chase with a rogue fan. To call Harris a utility player doesn’t do him justice, he was a chameleon on the field because he had a thick portfolio of skills; he was an excellent tackler, solid in the air, skilful, and had a fierce shot.

Everton draw Carlisle in FA Cup

November 29, 2009
By

Not all the luck has deserted the Toffees. A depressing few days culminated in the draw for the FA Cup 3rd round giving us a home game against League One Carlisle United, to take place over the weekend of 2/3rd of January. Everton have faced the Cumbrians twice before in the FA Cup, in 1967/68 and 1929/30, running out as winners on both occasions. Our last meeting in a cup competition was in the League Cup in 1976/77 when Everton won 2-0.
