Newcastle nab Gosling. Good riddance.

July 22, 2010

Sky sports are reporting that Dan Gosling has finally moved to Newcastle for free. I’m finished with the anger, not hugely disappointed in losing him as a player anymore, but still apoplectic with rage about the money he took off us. If he recovers in time, he’ll be able to come to Goodison for a nice welcome, after that I fully expect him to sink without a trace. If you have a gentleman’s agreement and then back out of it you are neither a gentleman nor worth having an agreement with in the first place. Good riddance.

Gosling set to jump ship

ESPN reported yesterday that Dan Gosling was ready to join Newcastle United for free. It looks like he’ll be getting £25,000 a week, but the article also mentions that Everton will appeal the move and look to recoup something. If we get anywhere near the £4 million we are apparently appealing for – it will come in very handy for both us and Plymouth Argyle – who are entitled to any proceeds of a Gosling transfer. Again, I’m sad to see him go, and a little angry too.

Dan Gosling:How to lose friends and alienate people

Now is the summer of our discontent. Summer is an atrocious time to be an Evertonian. Nails are bitten to the quick, nights are sleepless, and the fevered clamour amongst the gutter press for a full-scale Everton exodus reaches unbearable levels. With Pienaar still flirting with our offer, Arteta a possibility to leave, and Johnny Heitinga sending a volley of mixed messages our way we could be forgiven for forgetting about Dan Gosling. If you’d have asked me my opinion of Gosling last week I would have told you that he is a solid young player, and a promising prospect for the future. All that is now in tatters....

Everton's Triumvirate Of Injured Young Talent

The miserable news about Dan Gosling is that he won’t be back until Christmas. This is a blow; whilst injuries to Arteta and Jagielka hurt the current side immeasurably, Gosling’s injury is in some ways more painful.    We know what Jagielka and Arteta are capable of, but haven’t yet seen Gosling at his peak. We have witnessed first hand how injuries can cauterize a career about to jump into full flow; James Vaughan’s cruel catalogue of knee problems have kept him off the score sheet and have clipped his wings. A serious cruciate problem at such a young age – just 20 years old – is...

Everton midfielder Dan Gosling suffered a ruptured cruciate knee ligament when he collided with Wolves keeper Marcus Hahnemann on Saturday. The twenty-year old will be out of action for up to nine months. Gosling has made excellent progress this season and is developing into a fine player. He has become a valuable member of the squad, making 17 appearances this term and scoring 3 goals, most notably a beauty against Manchester United in the 3-1 win a few weeks ago. Evertonians all over the world will wish him a speedy recovery.

Now Everton, reproduce this form – again and again and again!

EVERTON 3 (Bilyaletdinov 18, Gosling 76, Rodwell 90) – MANCHESTER UNITED 1 (Berbatov 16) Everton are developing a handy technique for slaying the top teams; start slowly, size them up, even allow them to land a blow, then come on strong and hit them hard with a combination of punches. Making light of the absence of Fellaini and Cahill the Blues showed that they are capable of overcoming any opposition with their potent mix of team spirit, work ethic and obdurate defending, allied to flair and skill in key areas of the pitch. Osman was, yet again, quite magnificent, on this form a call-up to the England squad cannot be far...
