 Harvey was a home-grown talent who made his debut at 18 years of age, playing against Inter in the San Siro in 1963, and is one of the few to both manage and play for this great club. Alongside Ball and Kendall – he made up the Holy Trinity; adored by the Goodison faithful, he was labelled ‘the white Pele’… A hugely skilful player who’s skimming passes across the park, more often than not to the waiting feet of winger Johnny Morrissey, provided the outlet and set up attack after attack. Harvey had an accurate and powerful long range shot but not always the confidence to try it or his goal tally would have been much higher. Unfairly never given international recognition, his 1 England cap seems like a cruel joke, especially considering Mr Beckham’s huge pile of caps. Even when he became Kendall’s number two in the mid-80′s he would leap into tackles, ignoring the pain of his hip injury to show the way for the squad during training sessions.
